TIPS FOR SUCCESS:

Never See Failure… As Failure
July 25, 2009

The Marketing Spot blog provided excellent food for thought… and action… regarding achieving additional success (however you define success).

In part, the blog stated “Easy Street doesn't teach us much.  I don't know why we spend so much time trying to reach it.  It's only in the School of Hard Knocks that we are tested and become better.  Some of our most important lessons in both business and life come with a few lumps.  I love how Tom Hopkins gives us the proper attitude toward failure in his classic book, How to Master the Art of Selling:”

  • “I never see failure as failure, but only as a learning experience.”
  • “I never see failure as failure, but only as the negative feedback I need to change course in my direction.”
  • “I never see failure as failure, but only as the opportunity to develop my sense of humor.”
  • “I never see failure as failure, but only as an opportunity to practice my techniques and perfect my performance.”
  • “I never see failure as failure, but only as the game I must play to win.”

I don’t know about you, but I wish I would have more closely and more effectively followed this advice throughout my life.  I would definitely be more successful… and so it is with you.

It’s never too late!  Think about it… the impact of a profound, definitive and lifelong change in your definition of failure.  Failure… a learning experience, important feedback suggesting you change your direction, an opportunity to develop your sense of humor, an opportunity to perfect your performance, the path to achieving that which you most fervently want and wish to achieve in your personal and professional life!

Failures enable success!  Wow… I can’t wait to see what I learn from my next failure.  How about you?
